| Offender Connections Network Co-Hosts Offender Re-entry Task Force Breakfast
On November 13, 2007, the Offender Re-entry Task Force Breakfast with the Mayor was held at the Anderson Center of Winston-Salem State University. Guests to the event were presented with a Call to Action by the Honorable Mayor Allen Joines. The event was attended by local business leaders, politicians, law enforcement, employers, and service agencies. With collaboration and feedback from all segments, an Offender Reentry Task Force should result.
The Offender Connections Network hosted the Breakfast in conjunction with the Center for Community Safety of Winston-Salem State University and the Mayor’s office. The Offender Connections Network (OCN), organized August 28, 2007, provides agencies that work with the offender population an outlet for information sharing and a clearinghouse for resources to better serve individuals in achieving their greatest potential.
The OCN is comprised of nine charter members; CORE, The Darryl Hunt Project, Eureka House, Ivy House: Center for Self-Sufficiency, New Birth (CDE), Northwest Piedmont Council of Governments; Project Re-entry, Service Corps, and Workforce Development Offender Services. It is part of the OCN’s mission to connect the dots of service and to help offenders navigate the pathway to becoming successful citizens in our community.
